Well today was my first day back of the winter term. A big suprise was awaiting upon us diploma ditties. 'X' a proffesional street dance teacher came in to our class to teach us a street routine. We warmed up then learnt all the steps to a real fun dance to the song 'Whip My Hair' by 'Willow Smith' (Will Smith's Nine Year Old Daughter).
Later on that afternoon we were put to the steel pans, but this wasn't no ordianry trinadadian music. it was time for rock 'n' roll. We were put on different pans. I was put on the tenners. We were taught how to play 'I'm A Believer, by 'The Monkees.
I think today was a really fun day I got learn new skills like playng the pans especially the tenners. Which to me is the most challenging part.

Week 1
Hey Blogger! Yepp Year 11 ‘Diploma Ditties’. We didn’t get up to the usual, you know, dance then drama or media then art. This term we were doing something completely different … DJ-ING!!! Two guys from 'Point Blank' were standing in front of us with 3 decks layed out on 3 desks. The introduction to the course began. It was very interesting. I had been on decks before at my friends house but that was just for a joke. My dad also has his own set of decks. After all the chit chat the two instructors/pro Dj’s (Nigel & Ian) took apart all the equipment apart from the decks and split the group up to put us onto different decks to try set up the decks. After that was done they demonstrated scratching, drop mixing and cross fading. They took they’re music of a laptop connected to the vinals. Next they asked each student to come up and demonstrate these three skills. I got the sratching one just like that the drop mix and cross fader was a bit more challenging.
This course is worth half a GCSE and we will be assessed of the skills we have learnt throughout these five weeks on the last day.
Well Week One Not So Hard … Four More Weeks To Go!

Today I started of with media we all went to the studio to do some shooting. Last week we made a very detailed story board of our first shots. Our teacher told us that today we had to film our shots and afterwards we would edit them. I was the camera lady. It was real fun saying cut and action I felt like a boss. My group and I took several shots in four scenes. When we were done we stored our film onto a program called final cut express which was installed on an apple Mac.
Later on that day we did art. Our task was to take an image out of our photo montage and re-do it on A2 paper, or do a big poster on your topic (child labour).
I used paint for my poster.

Today I started of with media; we continued analysing videos based on human rights. We watched two more clips made by previous students from Charles Edward Brooke.
After that I we split the filming class into two groups of 3. My group decided to focus on child labour. We created a spider diagram on that topic.
Next we had art and we did a different photo montage. The teacher gave us a list of topics to do with human rights. Our task was to pick one topic and find pictures related to it. I chose child labour again. I don’t know why I keep choosing it. So after gathering all my pictures I made a collage of them.
Today was a really cool day.
