Week 1

Hey Blogger! Yepp Year 11 ‘Diploma Ditties’. We didn’t get up to the usual, you know, dance then drama or media then art. This term we were doing something completely different … DJ-ING!!! Two guys from 'Point Blank' were standing in front of us with 3 decks layed out on 3 desks. The introduction to the course began. It was very interesting. I had been on decks before at my friends house but that was just for a joke. My dad also has his own set of decks. After all the chit chat the two instructors/pro Dj’s (Nigel & Ian) took apart all the equipment apart from the decks and split the group up to put us onto different decks to try set up the decks. After that was done they demonstrated scratching, drop mixing and cross fading. They took they’re music of a laptop connected to the vinals. Next they asked each student to come up and demonstrate these three skills. I got the sratching one just like that the drop mix and cross fader was a bit more challenging.

This course is worth half a GCSE and we will be assessed of the skills we have learnt throughout these five weeks on the last day.

Tuesday 7th September 2010

Today was our first day back from the summer holidays. Nothing practical happened today which is a bit disappointing. We were told that next week we were starting a 5 week DJing Course. However we could only do the course if you make a power point presentation or leaflet on the disk jockey, just so you know a little about it before you start the course. Alexus and I decided to make a PowerPoint presentation together. This is saved in my documents separately. I really enjoyed doing my PowerPoint with Alexus. I think this pre-research was useful because we have a little knowledge before we start the course.
