'There's no business like show business'!
'Annie Get Your Gun' is about the life of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), who was a sharpshooter from
Frank Butler was the best broadway sharpshooter in Ohio. Frank comes to a motel in Ohio & challenges to a shooting competition. All the maids in that motel drooled over Frank He was very good looking. Annie & her physic Dolly went round selling their wares e.g. birds. They decided to try the motel that Frank was staying at. She got there & met up with the manager. Annie didn't know how to count so the manager made a deal. The deal was that if Annie beat Frank she would but all her wares. So Annie was up for it & so was Frank. The competition began & to Franks shock Annie beat by 1 gunshot. Frank has NEVER been beaten. Instead of Annie getting all her wares sold n winning $100 Franks crew invited her to become patners with Frank & start doing shooting roadshows with him.
Frank & Annie Fall In Love Although neither of them ever admitted that Annie was a better shooter than Frank. This happy relationship doesn't last that long Frank soon starts to get jelous especially when Annie shows off her new trick.
This really got to Frank, it hurt him so bad he quit his job. Annie suffered a real heartbreak but she was strong she carried on doing what she good at. Life without Frank was great Annie travelled all over the world & recieved many pure gold & diamond badges. Sady her shooting roadshows start to collapse as she has become bankrupt.
The only hope Annie could think of was meeting up with Frank & becoming a team again. She had her doubts about all these beautiful girls in white gloves, So she herself wore white gloves & a stunning (American Flag Design) dress with all those sparkly badges consuming it.
They were both excited to see each other but the sight of those badges put Frank off. They started arguing their conclusion was that they would have a shooting competition again. The twist here is that if Annie wins she looses Frank but she doesn't want to look dumb. So her friends sneak her gun and break it a bit so that it doesn't shoot straight. However the ending is happy Annie & Frank fall into an unseperable loving relationship.
My favouritre character is Annie played by Jane Horrocks , this is because she came from nowhere to something huge & she always stayed strong no matter the test & trial she faced. The Scene I enjoyed the most was when Annie showed off her new trick & she recieved the wrong response from Frank & he left her. I liked this scene because it was very emotional & it got me slipping of the edge of my seat. Ultz was the set designer and Nicky Gillibrand was the costume designer. The costume that outshined all & caught my eye was the dress made out of the american flag. I found that dress outstanding & very creative it was nothing I expected.
I believe this plays audience is mainly females because there are a lot of romatic scenes another reason is the main character is a woman. I think the age range for this play would be 13 & over.
I really enjoyed this performance 5 star quality!
Recommend This Play To Anyone Trust Me You'll Love It. =D
